Holiday Ready Hair with the New KISS Gold Edition Curling Hair Styler
Thursday, November 8, 2018
Blazer: H&M | Dress: Zara | Belt: Macy's
Jewelry: Vintage | Sunnies: Banana Republic
With holiday season right around the corner, our social calendars are filling up rather quickly. With so many social commitments waiting for us in the coming weeks, planning beauty and hair looks may seem like a daunting task. I luckily found a solution to your hair worries this season and will have your tresses looking holiday ready in a flash.
I got a chance to preview KISS's newest hair tool, the Instawave 101 Automatic Curler during its press event and discovered this fancy update is the ideal item to have on hand this holiday season. This unique product is such a hair styling game changer. As a fan of glamorous, full voluminous hair, achieving this look isn't the easiest of tasks. Usually involving hot rollers, curling irons and a slew of hair products, I was shocked to see how well my hair turned out with just the Instawave.
Instawave 101 Automatic Curler
Available in both 1" and 1 1/4" barrels, the Instawave easily curls hair without clamps or extra hot bare wands. The stylish tool automatically curls hair around its pearl ceramic barrel with a simple push of a button and allows you to custom create a curled or waved look in half the time required with standard hot curl tools.
You'll definitely need a few test rounds to get comfortable with this style of curler, but once comfortable, curling will be a breeze. I loved how this chic tool waved my hair beautifully without much work. Simply weave a one inch sections of hair between the tongs and push the button in the direction you desire and watch the curler neatly spin your hair around the barrel. Its important to make sure you're always curling your hair away from your face to create that fancy, voluminous look. Best of all, the Instawave heats up to 400 degrees which allows the hair to take shape quickly without much damage. A few seconds of hold results in a perfectly smooth, shiny waves.
Glamorous Hair in Half the Time
I headed to the event with freshly washed blown out hair. Due to prior styling, my hair was already prepped and primed with sufficient product and texture.
To create this full bodied, waved look, the stylist at the event roughly sectioned my hair and curled each section with the Instawave for a more relaxed, tousled look. The final result was effortless curled waves that went from meetings to after work events with ease without losing its shape or sheen. I did finger comb my hair to break up the curls a bit to give it a more undone look.
The entire process took about 20-25 minutes which is unbelievably quick for my hair. I know I will be relying on this wonderful product during the holidays as it makes for speedy styling and touch-ups and leaves my hair soft to the touch. Best of all, its light-weight design makes it travel-friendly which is a must for this time of year. The Instawave has become a fast favorite and will get lots of use long after the holiday season is over.

Spring Hair Revival
Thursday, April 30, 2015
Long are the days of hiding our hair under warm knit hats and fur-trimmed hoods. Spring has arrived and that means warmer temps and ample amounts of sunshine. It's time to let our hair flow freely in this (pollen filled!) breezy air.
BUT HOLD THE PHONE. Like any seasonal shift, our hair may still be suffering from the previous season's wrath. We may be experiencing dry. limp tresses that are in dire need of a major perk up for the season ahead. My hair is certainly different during the warmer months of the year--its more prone to frizz, dries out a bit more and intolerant to most styling products.
To insure healthy hair all season long it is important to treat the foundation and maintain a routine that is suitable to your unique concerns. Whatever your hair type, I always recommend a good coconut oil treatment once a week. Along with oil, here are my all-time hair savers that keeps this lioness mane of mine tamed and lovely.
Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Trust your mom when she talks about natural beauty wonders she loves, I listened to her about this and never looked back. Its an simple affordable and super beneficial treatment that will revive your hair in the best ways. A single treatment will leave it softer and lighter. Its a wonderful alternative to a heavy conditioner and does far more than just hydrate parched hair.
Simply massage oil onto your scalp and concentrate on the roots of the hair. Softly apply any and all remaining oil on hands onto the shafts and tips of the hair. You can tie your hair into a loose ponytail or messy bun and let it sit for a couple of hours. You can surely pop on a plastic shower cap if you feel strange at first. It's the perfect weekend treatment.
A voluminous blowout after a treatment makes my hair feel/look like I belong in a Pantene commercial.
Weleda Rosemary Conditioning Hair Oil
I was turned onto this little gem early last year and absolutely love it. A perfect product to tame frizz, hydrate and polish hair, Weleda's rosemary oil has become a fast favorite of mine. You need a super small amount of this product to do the trick and can apply to hair before or after styling. I prefer to apply a small bit to my hair after I've styled it as a serum to lock in the look and focus on the ends to soften them a touch. This product can be a bit thick in consistency (it is a dense oil after all) so a little does go a LONG way (trust me!) and be sure to avoid applying product in the roots.
Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails
There is no better way to treat our hair than from within. A fortified vitamin that targets these prime areas is a great piece to have to your routine. Infused with a super oil (Argan), these vitamins feature biotin along with a medley of antioxidants and Hyaluronic Acid.
From my experience, not only has my hair felt and looked more healthy but fallout (which happens too often for various reasons) has lessened quite a lot. From the pleasing results thus far, this lovely little vitamin isn't leaving daily vitamin mix anytime soon.

Dial A Dilemma: Blowout Basics
Friday, April 5, 2013
Nothing makes a girl feel more pretty and glamorous than getting her done exactly the way she wants it. Whether it’s sleek and glossy or big and full of body, a luxurious blowout is the easiest way to achieve that glorious feeling. While we may not have the luxury of getting a daily blowout by your go-to hair stylist, you can always grab a few must-have products and get that lustrous look from the comfort of your own home, all you need are the right tools and products.
How do I achieve a professional quality blowout at home on my own?
Protect:
Repeatedly using harsh heat and extremely hot hair tools
directly on hair does quite the damage on your tresses; protecting the hair is
crucial. Whether it’s a spray, cream or serum make sure to coat your strands in
a heat protecting product to ensure a safe base for styling and can combat some
of that damage (no one wants dried out ends!). I like to apply a protectant in
my hair while it’s damp and shuffle/scrunch it onto the hair. GHD Thermal Heat Protect Spray ($17) has been my go-to product for years and never disappoints. It’s
light enough to layer additional products and sufficiently protects hair from
the damage and stress from hair tools and additional heat.
Prime & Fluff:
Once your hair is all washed and protected, it’s time to
lather on your favorite hair products. Whether you’re aiming for the sleek,
polished city look or want to be a few inches closer to god with big, glamorous
locks, here is where you have to use styling products strategically. Choose a
hair oil or serum (Keratin Complex Styling Oil, $25) if you want your tresses to remain extra smooth with silky sheen and a great mousse (Drybar Southern Bell, $25) for extra volume. I should also point out that since its
launch, Living Proof’s Hair Primer ($20) has been a hair styling staple for me and
makes hair extra smooth and ready for any styling ahead.
Hair Styling Tools:
I can’t say it enough; invest in a REALLY GOOD blow dryer.
You’re going to get loads of use out of it, it will last you far longer than a
basic one and nice dryers often times come with settings that reduce the amount of harsh heat on your strands and other goodies standard dryers skimp on.
Make sure your brushes are free of any loose, tangled hair
from your last use and bristles are clean and ready for your next twirl. Please make sure to replace any brushes with
bristles that are overly used, burnt or broken. The lifespan of brushes varies
from brush to brush and depends on its bristles and how often it is used (we
all know when a brush is beyond saving!).
With these must-have products and quick tips, you're sure to achieve that perfect blown out, just out of the salon look without ever stepping out of your home. Happy styling!
