How To Recreate the Timeless Hair & Makeup On Anatomy of a Scandal

anatomy of a scandal sienna miller makeup hair

It's no surprise that Netflix's latest show, Anatomy of a Scandal, is generating a lot of buzz and it has nothing to do with the subject matter of the program. The attention is focusing on Sienna Miller's exceptionally chic hair and makeup seen throughout the series. Sienna plays Sophie Whitehouse, a polished mom whose picturesque life of privilege comes undone when her husband is involved in a high-profile consent scandal. While the jury is still out on the quality of the storyline, there's no denying that viewers are absolutely mesmerized by her look which perfectly blends elements of polished mom and the enviable London cool girl essence.

Her signature look - effortlessly loose waved tresses and a glowing barely there makeup look - highlights all the hallmarks of a timeless yet luxe appearance without the work. I hunted down the details behind her elegant screen-stealing look and found the exact products and tools required to recreate this style yourself.

THE BEAUTY LOOK
Kate Benton, the hair and makeup powerhouse behind Sienna's impeccable look used her hair and makeup as a mode of story telling for her character and beautifully depicts her emotions in this respect throughout the series. As a person of life-long privilege, the character of Sophie is no stranger to luxury which was evident in the choice of makeup. The key to her luminous, fresh faced beauty style was to illustrate a refined look without looking overly perfected.

To achieve her flawless radiant complexion, Kate used a light application of  Burberry Ultimate Glow Foundation, a hybrid product which infuses skincare heroes like moisture-locking hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich ingredients (white tea extract) for a youthful, radiant finish. For areas which required a bit more coverage, she followed up with Maqpro PAM Daniel Phillips Six-Color Palette, a comprehensive cream-based palette suitable for fair and medium skin tones. This versatile product was also used to further enhance Sienna's cheeks bones. For a touch of youthful color, a flushed cheek look was achieved with Chantecaille Cheek Gelee. To maintain the luminous elements of her skin and prevent a heavy made-up look, powdered products were avoided.

The product I was most interested in tracking down was the exact red lip Sienna stunningly wears in Episode 1. The entire ultra-elegant yet cool look not only made me pause the episode for a clearer glance but made me return to it once the series ended. This perfect rose red hue was created by using a blend of Burberry Kisses Matte Lipstick in The Red 106 and Maqpro Red Lip Slim Lip Palette

THE HAIR LOOK
In the first court appearance, the audience gets a generous view of Sophie's chic waved hair - her signature soft look. Unlike classically waved or curled tresses, the key to Sophie's waves was to keep the look undone. Using a Babylisss curling iron, Sienna's hair was loosely curled leaving the ends out, ultimately achieving a soft wave reminiscent of beachy waves with a luxurious twist. While her hair appeared rich and healthy, plenty of texture was achieved courtesy of Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Hairspray, which offered a more practical look fitting for a busy mom. For the final touch, her waves were tousled with the fingers for a more relaxed finish.

***

As the series progresses, both the hair and makeup begin to lose their luster as Sophie's life starts to unravel. Slowly, the beautiful tousled blonde hair is pulled back into an unfussy ponytail, the makeup loses its glamorous edge and finally at the peak of her stress, those immaculate waves are thrown up in a messy bun and paired with a minimal makeup look. Regardless of how terribly Sophie's life crumbles around her, what Kate so wonderfully achieves is maintaining the common thread of refinement in all stages of her looks despite how diminished they become. While the script may have left much to be desired, the visual treat Kate created with Sienna's hair and makeup is sure to leave a favorable stamp on this limited series.

gigi hadid met gala beauty look

After a 2020 cancellation and months long delay in 2021, the 2022 Met Gala is back once again. The glamorous event, which draws many famous faces across industries and members of the press, made up for lost time by delivering a dazzling and memorable event. The red carpet hosted plenty of extravagant and eye-catching looks which created quite the buzz on social media. Gigi Hadid's bold burgundy Versace ensemble and slick beauty look was one of the note-worthy looks which caught the attention of many.

The standout beauty look was created by Erin Parsons, Global Makeup Artist for Maybelline New York, featured fresh tones with glossy elements mimicking Gigi's shiny vinyl look for the evening. Using popular favorites from Maybelline, the overall look, which concentrated on the lips, also drew inspiration from the theme of the evening with tonal notes matching her ensemble. “We really wanted to keep her clean, fresh glowing skin, as a nod to the gilded glamour of back in the day when they would only use cheek rouge and red lipstick," says Erin.

FACE
To achieve Gigi's flawless base, Erin begin by applying SuperStay Longwear Liquid Foundation (105 Fair Ivory) to her skin with Superstay Active Wear Concealer (11) layered atop. To set her application, she followed up with the dusting of Lasting Fix Banana Setting Powder. Moving onto cheeks, Erin created a youthful, flushed color effect with barely-there contouring and Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush (Fuchsia Spark). "Hadid really loved the idea of fresh skin with lots of blush," says Erin. Once complete, Erin enhanced the high-points of Gigi's face with Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter (Light Iridescent 100). Prior to heading out on the the red carpet, Erin used Fit Me Matte Poreless Pressed Powder (120) to touch up Gigi's skin and keep her makeup camera-ready.

EYES & BROWS
Using the Nudes of New York Palette, Erin softly sculpted Gigi's eyes by applying a modest amount of the shade Heroine in the crease and along he under eye for a delicate, clean look. In lieu of traditional liner, Erin expertly defined the eyes by using the shade Self-Starter from the same palette with a fine brush for a soft framing effect. For a grand, eye-opening effect Erin finished the eye look with a sweep of Falsies Lash Lift Mascara (Brownish Black) to Gigi's lashes. To keep in line with the fresh notes of the look, Erin kept the brows minimal, using on Tattoo Studio Brow Lift Stick (Clear) to keep them naturally in place and skipped any additional color assistance.

LIPS
The focal point of the beauty look, Gigi's edgy burgundy lips featured a beautiful layering of rosy shades. Erin's stunning makeup look always features aspects of contemporary elegance and this look no exception. "Of course, we had to add some dramatic gloss for a modern touch," explains Erin. To create this look, she began by defining Gigi's look with Color Sensational Shaping Lipliner (153 Divine Wine). For a multi-dimensional look, Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor (Wicked) was applied to the outer corners of the lips with the center saturated in Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor (Red-Hot).  Not only did this create an ultra-luxurious and sleek lip look mirroring Gigi's outfit but the long-lasting and smudge-resistant formula offered a photo-ready look ideal for the red carpet.

Get The Look: Phoebe Bridgers Radiant Beauty Look at Met Gala 2022

Phoebe Bridgers Met Gala 2022

Every fashion savvy eye was set on the star-studded red carpet of  last night's 2022 Met Gala and the beautiful turnout and jaw-dropping looks certainly did not disappoint. From glitzy ensembles to beautifully elaborate gowns and beyond, the First Monday in May was a welcomed return after a 2020 cancelation and 2021 delayed presentation. Phoebe Bridgers, a multi-talented artist and actor, shined on the red-carpet  in a sparking, crystal-embroidered dress which was topped with an equally radiant makeup look.

Using  an array of Tata Harper products, Makeup artist Susie Sobal created a minimal yet chic look which spotlighted Phoebe's glowing skin while stunningly complementing the show-stopping dress. When detailing the inspiration behind the look, Susie aimed for a youthful look with a dramatic pop. "We were going for a young, modern vamp look," explains Susie.

SKIN
To breakup any buildup and rid the skin of any debris prior to cosmetics, Nourishing Oil Cleanser was used to clean the skin. Once the skin was cleansed, Susie followed up with two key products which ensured maximum hydration and skin suppleness. The duo included the Resurfacing Mask, which helped the skin achieve a fresh glow and was then followed up with the Hydrating Floral Essence to lock in the moisture and provide extra hydration. For an enhanced dose of brightness, Susie applied Rejuvenating Serum thereafter.

EYES
Continuing with the skin, Susie wanted Phoebe's undereye area to appear fresh and youthful. This delicate area was treated to a hydrating application of Elixir Vitae Eye Serum. She continued with her final tip to achieving a flawless and glowing skin look prior to makeup by using Water Lock Moisturizer which gives a smoothing look to the skin,

MAKEUP
The key to this modern look was a radiant complexion which Susie created with her layered skincare technique and Illuminating Moisturizer with Diamond Dust blended onto the skin. The result was a fresh and nourished base with a hint of flattering shimmer. Susie livened the skin by diffusing the cheeks in Cream Blush (Lucky), which offered a lovely wash of color. For the final dramatic pop to the look, Susie finished the look with a vampy lip choice, achieved by drenching lips in Be True Lip Balm, for a smooth and full pout and layering Lip Tint (Be Adored) atop for the perfect deep rose hue.

BODY
Much like the face, Susie wanted Phoebe's overall skin to also glow. A simple blend of Revitalizing Body Oil with the Illuminating Moisturizer was applied to the skin giving the body an irresistibly hydrated and glowing appearance.

Get The Look: Gigi Hadid's Luxe Bronzed Gold Beauty Look at 2019 VMAs

Tuesday, August 27, 2019

Celebrity: Gigi Hadid
Makeup Artist: Carolina Gonzales
Brand: Maybelline

Monday night's MTV Video Music Awards were incredibly bold and it's prime guests certainly made quite the fashion and beauty statements. One of my favorite beauty looks of the evening was the stunning gold-toned bronze look celebrity makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez created for Gigi Hadid.

When creating this look, Carolina was inspired by the warm, golden shades of late summer and wanted the eyes to be the focal point of the makeup. The Maybelline New York spokesmodel sported an array of gleaming gold-toned products from the brand which included the ultra-chic and glamorous 25K Nudes Eyeshadow Palette in Gold. Using the affordable range, here's how you can recreate this look yourself:

FACE:
A perfect canvas always starts with a clean, freshly cleansed face. Carolina wanted to create a flawless complexion that looked both luminous and subtly radiant. For an even base, she applied Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation in Buff Beige, to Gigi's face, softly blending into the hairline and along the neck for a perfectly blended effect that extended beyond the face. For a brightening effect, she went back in with Super Stay Full Coverage Under-Eye Concealer in Medium and delicately used her fingertips to blend the product under her eye-area. To achieve that radiant finish and lightweight sheen on  Gigi's skin, Carolina strategically applied Master Chrome Jelly Highlighter Face Makeup in Metallic Rose along her nose, cupid's bow and chin area for a wearable luminous effect.

CHEEKS:
Once the complexion was perfected, Carolina moved onto a soft contour which sculpted Gigi's face and further highlighted her striking features. Using City Bronzer Bronzer & Coutour Powder Makeup in Medium, she buffed the powder onto her cheeks and areas where the sun would naturally warm the face (hairline, jawline). For added depth and a uniform warm-glow, she pulled the product down along the neck and the ear area.

EYES:
This awards show makeup was centered on the eyes and Carolina opted for luxe golden shades that enhanced Gigi's eyes and tied in with her effortless and elegant glowing complexion. To create this multidimensional bronzed smoky eye look, Carolina used both light and medium shadows from the 24K Nudes Eyeshadow Palette in Gold. Expertly blending the shades onto the lids, the brow bone and smoking the soft shades along the lower lash created the look of a more highlighted and wide-eyed look, ultimately making them appear bigger. To add a gltizy feature to the makeup, Carolina popped a champagne-tone shimmer atop the lids. Finally, Carolina elongated Gigi's stunning eyes by creating a subtle, soft-focused cat-eye effect with dark brown shadow concentrated along her outter lash lines. The look was finished by layering the lashes in generous coats of Snapscara Washable Mascara in Pitch Black, whereas a single coat was applied to the lower lashes. To further enhance the cat-eye effect, Caroline focused mascara on the outer upper lashes.

BROWS:
Feathery brows were the goal for this look, and Carolina used Brow Ultra Slim Defining Eyebrow Pencil in Light Blonde to fill in any sparse areas and concentrated product in the inner corners of Gigi's brows, ultimately enhancing her natural shape and framing the full look.

LIPS:
To keep from competing with the glamorous golden eye look, Carolina chose to color Gigi's lips in a richly-hued nude tone. For an unexpected style, she created a gradient effect on the lips by contouring the outer lip line in Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Totally Toffee and filling the in the rest of lips in with the lighter shade in Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liner in Nude Whisper. To seal in the lip, Carolina dabbed Shine Compulsion by Color Sensation in Baddest Beige with her fingertips atop the liners giving it a hydrated effect and providing a long-lasting wear.  The overall look was a modern ombre lip that beautifully complemented the bronzed tones of the full makeup. For added depth to the lips, Carolina's expert tip details the application of powder and bronzer along the outer lips to create a more plump pout.

For the final aspect of this look, Gigi's face was dusted in a light layer of Shine Free Oil Control Loose Powder, focusing on tricky areas like around the nose, chin, mid brows while avoiding the cheeks to maintain their glow.

Get The Look: Adriana Lima's Glamorous Beauty Look Using Maybelline

Tuesday, April 3, 2018

Celebrity: Adrianna Lima
Makeup Artist: Patrick Ta
Brand: Maybelline

The perfect complement to her dramatic and ultra-glamorous Alberta Ferretti gown, Adriana’s makeup look to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party was the epitome of Hollywood Glamour. Celebrity Makeup Artist Patrick Ta created a striking beauty look for the Maybelline New York Spokesmodel that was centered on a stunningly vibrant red pout. Here’s how he created this stunning look:

SKIN: As with all glamorous makeup applications, starting with a clean face is essential. The initial step in prepping the skin was to provide ample hydration with facial oil. Opting for a hydrating oil rather than a cream gave Adriana’s skin a subtle luminous finish while instantly reviving the complexion and creating an even base. To increase the radiance of her skin, Patrick followed with Gigi Hadid x Maybelline East Coast Glam Liquid Strobe, concentrating it on the high points of her face to give it a flawless, dimensional look.

FACE: Moving onto coverage, Patrick wanted Adriana’s skin to look healthy and youthful and didn’t want to diminish the glow with a heavy foundation. Using Gigi Hadid x Maybelline West Coast Glow Tinted Primer, a lighter and fresh alternative to a full-coverage foundation, he applied the tinted base onto her skin. To sculpt the face and provide chic definition, Patrick used Maybelline New York Master Contour Face Contouring Kit to define the cheekbones, enhance the jawline and slim the bridge of the nose with a fluffy angle brush. For a flush of color, Maybelline New York Fit Me Blush in 'Mauve” was applied to the apples of the cheeks with the same brush and diffused into the contour. To frame the cheeks, and the high points of her face, Patrick lightly dusted Maybelline New York Master Chrome Highlighter in 'Molten Gold,' along the tops of her cheekbones, and down the bridge of her nose. To brighten up the eyes, highlighter was also applied to the inner corner of her eyes.

EYES: Using the Maybelline New York Total Temptation Palette, three key shades were used to create her elegant eye look. First, Patrick blended the medium-brown shade into the crease and blended the shade upwards to brow bone. The same medium shadow was buffed onto the lower lash for a soft smoky look. Using a clean fluffy brush, he went over the freshly applied shadow to soften the look. He then saturated the eyelids with the iridescent pink champagne shade with a clean flat brush. Lastly, the inner corners of her eyes were further brightened by layering the lightest shade of the palette onto the highlighter that was previously applied. Patrick framed the look by coating her beautiful lashes in a few layers of Maybelline New York Total Temptation Mascara. To ensure Adriana’s brows were flawless, any sparse spots were filled with Maybelline New York Eye Studio Brow Define + Fill Duo and set the desired shape with Maybelline New York Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara.

LIPS: The striking focal point of the look was a perfectly bold red pout. Adriana’s luxurious red lip was achieved by using Maybelline New York Python Metallic Lip Kit in 'Passionate,' a stunning duo of lip color and metallic lipshadow. Patrick began by meticulously layering her lips with the poppy red lip color from the palette. To intensify the color and add a touch of dimension to the lip, he applied the rose gold lipshadow atop the red lip product resulting in a subtle sheen that further highlighted the bold look.

How To Create The Perfect Winged Liner

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

The perfect element to a glamorous makeup look, winged eyeliner has always been a beautiful way to elongate and frame the eyes. Whether pairing with a classic red lip or creating a sultry dramatic eye (think Arabic-style eye makeup), this lovely liner isn't the easiest of styles to master.

Often times requiring lots of practice, winged eyeliner becomes easier with time. I've learned that it's all about hand placement, how you hold the brush or liner and the pressure of application. A heavy hand will result in a messy application -- an undesirable look that leads to that dreaded raccoon-eyed smudge. Read on for the different types of liners you can use to achieve this chic swoosh and food-proof tips for getting it right every time.

WHAT TO USE

Pencil
The classic eyeliner we all overused during our JHS/HS years, a pencil liner is like an old friend that won't let you down. Designed to give you control, yet soft enough to smudge into a smokey look, a pencil liner is forgiving during clean up. While layering will give you a darker shade, pencils will never provide that slick, super dark flick of liner you'd get with alternative products. (Remember to always sharpen the tip when creating a winged look).

Liquid
To some, a liquid liner is the easiest way to create a wing. Wet, quick and inky, these thin brushed liners allow you to get that sharp look with a simple flick of the wrist. However, while easy, liquid liners aren't the best for long wear as they tend to smear by end of day and breakdown in ultra hot weather. Be sure to have it on hand for reapplication and cosmetic cotton buds for quick cleanup.

Felt-tip
Personally, I find these type of liners the best for achieving this look. Unlike liquid liners, felt-tips provide more control and less chances to mess up as there isn't any drying time. The sharp tip not only allows for a clean wing, but provides swift application without much effort.

Gel/Clay (Potted)
You'll need a slanted or thin liner brush to use these liners. Best for extended wear and sometimes waterproof, gel and clay formulas allow you to paint on a wing with ultimate precision. The smooth texture helps glide on product along the lash line and pull a wing without dragging. With use, product can dry out and require more work to get it on. However, mixing in a drop of makeup remover will revive a dry pot of liner and bring it back to its smooth consistency. Though each product varies, an additional layer may be needed to increase the intensity of color.

TIPS FOR THE PERFECT LINER APPLICATION
Powder to Product
I always suggest mapping out your desired shape using a thin, slanted liner brush and dark eye shadow prior to liner. Not only is shadow more forgiving if mistakes occur but light strokes help create a perfectly shaped foundation. Once you've reached your perfect wing, use your preferred liner and apply over your shadowed shape. (Using shadow and a liner brush is also great for practice. Getting a feel for the brush and the angles of your unique eyes is essential in getting a great wing every time)

Connect the Dots
Using your preferred product, apply five dots along the upper lash line, the last dot will be where you'd like your wing to end. Slowly applying liner from dot to dot will help you create an even shape before the dramatic wing. Once you reach your fourth dot (just before the end of your lash line), pull it up to the fifth and last dot. Neatly fill the wing and go over or thicken any spots you feel need editing.

Stamp
A method best used with inky products (liquid, felt, gel), use the entire tip of your liner as a stamp along the lash line. Holding the brush or liner at an angle, lightly tap it as close to the lashes and follow through to the end. Once lined, softly drag the tip over any missing spots. To create the wing, re-angle the tip at the end of the lash line and tap to your desired wing. Once stamped, fill the area to even the flick.

Final tip: For added balance/control, place your pinky on your cheekbone while lining your eyes. It'll stop the shaking and help you create the perfect winged liner.

NYFW Wes Gordon SS 2015 - Nails

Friday, September 5, 2014

New York Fashion Week is back and bolder than ever. However, just our luck, summer finally made its humid and sticky comeback this week with high temperatures and lots of (HOT!) sunshine. While this spells trouble for attendees, a little harsh weather has never been a reason to slow down style.

As usual, things are heating up backstage at the shows (I'm not just talking hot hair tools!) and the pro's are delivering some major looks. As one who loves all things nails, it's no surprise that I start my NYFW coverage with a nail post.

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014
Designer: Wes Gordan
Manicurist: Rita Remark
Brand: Essie

Drawing inspiration from the muted tones of Gordon's SS 2015 collection, Rita created a look that was both elegant and and unexpected. Designing a delicate lined pattern on the nails emphasized the feeling of the collection and appeared as if linen was resting against the skin.

Offering a creative twist on a classic, sophisticated manicure, Rita's designer manicure reworked a staple look in the best way. Here's how you an recreate this manicure yourself:

PREP: Like all great manicures, a proper foundation is needed. Neatly coat a single layer of Ridge Filling Base Coat to clean, shaped, polish-free nails.

COLOR: Once dried, dress nails in a single coat of Cocktails and Coconuts, following with a layer of Imported Bubbly atop the previous color. Layering this slightly iridescent and sheer gives nails an almost dewy skin-like finish.

DESIGN: As the foundation color dries, it's time to start on the linen design. With a striping brush, dip into Essie's Blanc (the brand's whitest shade) and whip away the excess. Draw the lined pattern by pulling the brush from the cuticle to the tip in one motion, continuing with two more lines. Each should be evenly spaced and look tapper away at the tips. You will use the same method with the lines across the nail, neatly moving to either walls of the nail.

FINISH: To diffuse some of the stark whiteness of the shade, Rita suggests layering a coat of Allure on top of the design. Finish the look with a luxurious top coat (Good To Go Top Coat) which will leave nails looking glossy and luxe.

PEDICURE: To keep the look uniform, Rita picked an neutral shade that works well with a multitude of skin tones and features just enough of a creamy base tone (Sand Tropez).

Nail Report - Red Carpet Celebrity Manicures at 2014 Grammy Awards

Monday, January 27, 2014

Celebrities poured onto the red carpet at Sunday's Grammy Awards sporting some beautiful looks and stylish beauty choices. While the biggest night in music usually brings out artists' more creative sides, this year was a pleasant collection of modern metallic tones, interesting fabrics, and chic hairstyles. Additionally, red carpet favorites displayed most of their personalities on their nails. From gel to pretty polish, Celebrity Manicurist Kimmie Kyees created fabulous manicures on some notable artists of the night.

Katy Perry stunned in a light and lovely pale Valentino gown appropriately adorned with delicate musical notes. The pretty star opted for a polished up-do and radiant beauty look that highlighted her eyes and gleaming skin. Keeping the full look light, Kimme decided to pair a pretty pink polish on her nails. Choosing COVERGIRL Oulast Nail Gloss in Everbloom, the light pink perfectly tied up the whole look without stealing the show.

Alternatively, Pink opted for a layered manicure. A fellow COVERGIRL spokesmodel, Pink dazzled in red Johanna Johnson dress and paired it with a more toned down manicure. For  this look, Kimme layered two COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss polishes to create a perfect pinky nude. Started with the initial layer of color, Kimme applied 'Forever Fawn' on Pink's nails. For the topper shade, she chose 'Natural Blush' a sweet pale shade. Finish with you favorite top coat and you have yourself picture perfect, elegant nails.

For a more dramatic and lasting approach, Kimme decided on a more modern look for singer Leona Lewis. Sporting a chic, body-hugging black cutout dress, Leona wanted something a little more creative for her nails. Using Red Carpet Manicure's gel polishes, Kimme created a fun color-blocked manicure that set well her full ensemble.

Kimme polished Leona's nails in two coats of 'White Hot' and divided the nail into three sections with striper brush in shade 'Black Stretch Limo'. Once sectioned, Kimme filled the side partitions in the black polish. The final look was both modern and fun.

Would you try out these pretty styles for your next manicure?

Get The Look - Claire Danes at The 2014 SAG Awards

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Celebrity: Claire Danes
Makeup ArtistMatin Maulawizada
Brand: Laura Mercier

Claire Danes glided down the red carpet of the SAG Awards last night in a stunning Vionnet gown. While the seasoned starlet stunned in the shimmery number, it was her romantic smoky makeup look that truly made the full look outstanding.

Global Brand Ambassador for Laura Mercier, Matin Maulawizada was inspired by the glimmering 1980s and the blue smoky tones that were signature to the decade. Using an array of Laura Mercier's fabulous products, Matin created a look that I will surely recreate in the near future.

Beginning with skincare, Matin detailed the full look below:

Prep (skincare) -- Properly prepping and hydrating the skin is essential in any beauty look. Matin began by moisturizing skin with Laura Mercier Mega Moisturizing Creme SPF 15 (Normal/Combination Skin) and a blend of Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum & Repair Eye Cream. Once properly hydrated, Matin massaged Claire's face with Laura's Foundation Primer. Not only does this relax the skin and offer a bit of a spa touch, but layering a light primer under foundation allows for a more even canvas.

Face -- For an even complexion, Matin applied Laura Mercier's Creme Smooth Foundation (Sunny Beige) onto skin, slightly contouring the face as he blended. To bring out Claire's skin's natural radiance, he blended the same product in Warm Ivory

Cheeks -- For perfectly flushed sun-kissed cheeks, Matin blended Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color (Rosebud) and concentrated a touch of the same product in Sunrise to the apple of the cheeks. To bring out the cheekbones, her ran Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder (Highlight 01) along the tops of her cheeks.

To set the skin, a light dusting of Laura Mercier Invisible Loose Setting Powder (Universal) was applied.

Eyes -- For the modernized and sexy take on the smoky eye, Matin began by lining Claire's lash line with Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liner (Cobalt). For the bold shadow, layering color was key. He applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour (Smoke) all over the lid. In the same fashion, he layered Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour (Mystical). For the third and final layer of color, Matin applied Laura Mercier Satin Matte Eye Colour (Dark Spirit).

For an added dimension of drama, Matin dusted Claire's lids in a light layer of loose, blue glitter. While the actual product was unavailable, Matin suggests using Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Colour in Lapis for a similar look.

Finally, Claire's lashes were coated in Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara (Bleu) to accentuate her lashes/eyes.

Lips-- To get the perfect pout, Matin swiped Claire's lips in Laura Mercier Lip Plumper in Pink Pearl for a perfect glamorous touch.

The perfect way to sport a blue toned smoky eye look, Matin masterfully created a look that is both elegant and wearable. Would you try this look at home?

Get The Look - Drew Barrymore at The 2014 Golden Globes

Celebrity: Drew Barrymore
Hairstylist: John D.
Brand: TRESemmé

The ever-beautiful and glowing Drew Barrymore sparkled in a ultra-feminine and sweet Monique Lhuillier gown at last night's Golden Globe Awards. Must like her colorful gown, the chic starlet chose to keep her hair sleek and beauty look light and airy. Celebrity hairstylist, John D. expertly styled Drew's hair which looked soft to the touch and shined beautifully. Using must-have TRESemme products, John details how to get this look in just a few simple steps.

Prep -- liberally sprtiz towel-dry hair with a thermal heat protectant spay (TRESemme Creations Heat Tamer Spray). Make sure to comb hair through to ensure even distribution of product.

Style -- using a flat boar bristle paddle brush, blow out hair. Using this type of brush allows enough tension on each sectioned piece of hair which allows for smoother and more lustrous strands. Once fully dry, run a straightening iron (on a low-to-medium setting) to seal hair and amplify the shine factor.

Finishing Touches -- part hair down the side and tuck behind ears. Tame flyaways and ensure a smooth partition by applying a bit of mousse to finger tips and running product along hair. For added smoothness and shine, John recommends lightly coating hair in a hair creme. Focus on ends of hair to seal the overall look.

This sleek and easy to wear hair feels low-maintenance yet chic enough to sport at your next fete. While I personally haven't straightened my hair for years, Drew's look just may push me to try this look once again. What your thoughts on this look?

Get The Look - Amy Adams at The Golden Globes

Celebrity: Amy Adams
Makeup Artist: Stephen Sollitto
Brands: Laura Mercier

American Hustle star, Amy Adams wowed all in a stunning red Valentino number last night at the Golden Globes. Although her dress was stunning on its own, Amy's chic complimentary 1970's inspired beauty look made it that much more beautiful. Makeup artist Stephen Sollitto took a note from Golden Globe Nominee's film and opted for a healthy-glowing fresh face -- the focus of the look.

Stephen provided the step-by-step guide on how to achieve this look.

Face

Prep -- the skin was the focal point of the look so properly hydrating and prepping the skin was key. The evening before, Stephen primed the skin with ReVive's Moisturizing Renewal Cream Retexturizing Hydrator and ReVive's Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream Ultra Retexturizing Hydrator after cleansing the skin.

Foundation -- skin had to be flawless and fresh so Stephen opted for Laura Mercier's Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (to launch FALL 2014) as Amy's foundation. Not only is the formula long-wearing and oil free but also light on skin. “This foundation goes on easily but the finish is very polished. The best thing is that is gives you a matte finish so you don't have to dust your face with loose powder. It's built in, simple and genius," he says.

Glow -- for the 70's glow, lightly dust Laura Mercier Bronzing Pressed Powder (Matte Bronze). Follow with Laura Mercier's Creme Cheek Color (Praline) blended onto cheeks with your fingers.

Eyes -- for the neutral look with the hint of color, Stephen dusts Laura Mercier's Baked Eye Color (Ballet Pink) on the lid. Follow by sweeping Laura Mercier's Baked Eye Color (Terracotta) along the the lash line, pulling color upwards as your reach the outer corner. For the added pop, her chose to line Amy's upper lash line and outer corner of her lower lash line with Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick Color in Plum. Finish with dotting Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick Color in Sugar Frost in the corners of the eyes.

Lashes -- Finally, apply Dior Diorshow Blackout Mascara to both upper and lower lashes.

This fresh, bronze look perfectly complimented her dramatic red gown. Would you give this look a try? Let me know and tweet or instagram me a picture @AmnaAnn & I'll perhaps feature your take on this look!
